Annual General Meeting, the resolution was passed and we assumed the name “The Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Foundry Engineering Industries Association” until today.

Year of 2003
Welcoming new members to join SFEIA
It was resolved to delete the word “Chinese” and we adopted the name Selangor Foundry and Engineering Industries Association.

Year of 1978
FOMFEIA was formed
The Federation of Malaysia Foundry & Engineering Industries Association was formed to promote the unity of the members.

Joint Meeting of Selangor Foundry Club with SFEIA
The Selangor foundry club and SFEIA inaugural joint meeting in and form the body known as SFEIA

SFEIA was formed
In order to fulfill the needs of the association, Selangor Foundry Clun and the members then strived to form the Selangor Chinese Foundry and Engineering Industry Association (SFEIA)

Selangor foundry club was formed
The Selangor Foundry Club was formed in 1935 to promote the understanding, of the relationship of the well-being of the profession. However, by the name of the association, it is not appropriate to represent the whole industry.

R.W. Fernstrum & Company is a leading manufacturer of cooling systems and custom heat exchangers for marine applications. While the company had used AutoCAD 2D software, the traditional design tool in the shipbuilding industry, it moved to Autodesk Inventor software in 2005 because of a discounted upgrade. Fernstrum sought to validate its 3D selection, however, by evaluating Inventor against other 3D CAD software.

The Challenge

The Solution

The company decided to replace Inventor with SolidWorks 3D CAD software because it is easier to use; provides better sheet-metal, design visualization, and configuration capabilities; includes advanced design visualization and communication tools; and offers superior training and support. By deploying SolidWorks CAD Software, Fernstrum increased innovation in its sheetmetal components, improved its handling of configurable design variables, enhanced its design visualization and communication, and accelerated its production of technical documentation.

TiSport, LLC

A custom-made high-end wheelchair that is easier to propel and less stressful on the body can help many handicapped people remain independent longer and continue to lead healthy, productive lives. TiSport, LLC, set out to create a superior class of titanium wheelchairs. To achieve this goal, the company needed to implement and sustain a high degree of design and manufacturing automation.

The Challenge

The Solution

TiSport chose SolidWorks and integrated SolidWorks Simulation software to design its wheelchairs because the software is faster and easier to use. The company added the integrated CAMWorks CAM package to automate its machining operations. By choosing SolidWorks, TiSport cut its design time in half; decreased annual development costs by $400,000; realized manufacturing savings of $11 per chair; and reduced returns to about one-half percent.
